In a community where drug use, theft, and prostitution are left unchecked, organized crime will flourish. Compassion for those suffering from drug addiction or working in the sex trade does not mean turning a blind eye to the large criminal enterprises profiting from this human suffering or the dangerous conditions they create. We need both compassion and accountability, and we require well-trained officers who are able to engage with appropriate levels of force whenever and wherever our citizens need them.
